"A finely-honed set of original tunes, played in a modern, contemporary style definitely a band to watch out for" - Jazz Live! The Chris Illingworth Trio left even the sage heads amongst the audience nodding in surprised approval when they played a charity concert at Dean Clough two years ago. Halifax-born and classically trained at the RNCM, Chris has since extended his classical solo career, collaborated with the likes of Jon Thorne (Lamb) and Luke Flowers (Cinematic Orchestra) and helped form a new trio, Gogo Penguin. Its a mix of original compositions (think EST, Acoustic Ladyland, Bad Plus) and updates on contemporary anthems (Queens of the Stone Age, Massive Attack). Grant Russell returns on bass (having gigged with Digby Fairweather, Chris Potter and Norma Winstone since he was last here), while Rob Turner is the drummer whose creative profile (under his own name at the London Jazz Festival) has earned him spots with Andy Shepherd, Mike Walker and Willerm Delisfort. Theyre good. Dont doubt it. ...more details

How to get your gig added to the Gig Guide

At present gigs are added to the calendar by a small team of volunteers and friends of Jazz Yorkshire.

We will endeavour to get your gigs added as soon as we can but it is recommended to send them over as early as you can as it might take a few weeks to get them into the guide.

It helps if you can include website links for the artist and promoter as this helps people when they want to find out more about your gig.

It will also be quicker if you can send a Word or RTF document with the details rather than just sending a printed flyer

new feature - residencies

The Gig Guide now includes pub and club gigs which take place on a weekly basis. If you organise or know of a pub gig which should be added please let us know.
