Tenor-saxophonist Matt Anderson graduated from Leeds College of Music's BA (Hons) Jazz degree course in 2010 with First Class Honours, as well as being awarded the Sam Hood Rosebowl for Outstanding Performance (Jazz). Since graduating, he has been busy as a professional freelance musician working across the U.K., and was awarded 'Young Musician of the Year' in the Jazz Yorkshire Awards 2010.
Matt's main project is his quartet which features Matt Anderson (saxophone), Aubin Vanns (guitar), John Marley (bass), Sam Gardiner (drums).
Aron's main project is Yoruba - a powerful 8-piece band intent on producing a tight driving sound. Drawing together a diverse mix of influences Yoruba has created it's own fusion of Jazz-Salsa-Samba, 'blending beautiful harmonies with syncopated rhythms, killer solos with a massive horn section sound'.
In 2010 Jazz Yorkshire recruited Aron Kyne and Matt Anderson to the Futures Scheme. Matt and Aron have both written new music which they have rehearsed and recorded at Savile Chrome studios and toured across the Yorkshire and Humber region. As part of the scheme Aron and Matt attended a one day masterclass with Stan Sulzman at Leeds Media Centre. They have both had individual mentoring with musicians of their own choice. Matt chose saxophonist Iain Ballamy and Aron has chosen pianist Jason Rebello.
