In 2008-09 Jazz Yorkshire will be investing £28,000 in the region's voluntary promoter network*.
This is because Jazz Yorkshire
believes this network of organisations offers the
greatest opportunity for musicians and audiences to
access high quality jazz performance. The following 12 promoters will be supported with funding between £500 - £5,000:
Leeds Jazz,
Sheffield Jazz,
Wakefield Jazz,
Huddersfield Jazz,
Grimsby Jazz,
Scarborough Jazz,
The Lescar (Sheffield),
Seven Jazz (Leeds),
Jazz at The Priestley (Bradford),
LIMA (Leeds),
The Spin Off (Leeds) and Jazz Connection (Leeds).
* A voluntary promoter is a club, organisation or individual who
is promoting jazz as a not-for-profit activity (any financial
surplus is put back into the club and not taken as profit).
A good starting point for finding who puts on gigs in this region is to look at the
list of promoter details to be found on the Jazz Services database.
A full list of these promoters is on this site.
