Jazz Yorkshire Ltd's funding from Arts Council England finished on 30 September 2012 and, to all intents and purposes, will cease operation. Jazz Yorkshire is the lead organisation in the Jazz North consortium which is taking over as the development agency for jazz in the North.
Jazz Yorkshire is proud to have worked with musicians, promoters, educators and other stakeholders across the region over the past 8 years. Amazingly, in difficult times the regional jazz scene has never been stronger with an active network of jazz promoters and clubs and an exciting creative scene based in Leeds and radiating out to Sheffield, York and Hull. For example Leeds' Roller Trio getting shortlisted for both Mercury and Mobo awards. We would also like to take the opportunity to say thank you for the support received from the jazz community.
The website will keep running for a further 12 months until the Jazz North website has been established. A further decision will be taken as to the future of the website. This means the Gig Guide, Musician/Promoter and Venue Database will still be available.
The directors of Jazz Yorkshire will stay in place until the end of March 2013 as a shadow board during the set up of Jazz North.
The small amount of funding that remains from the current financial year will be used at the discretion of the board of directors to support a number of discreet projects targeted at School Children and Young People. These may or may not be in partnership with Jazz North.
This Autumn there will be a transition period for subscribers and recipients of the Jazz Yorkshire mailing list. We will be in touch to see if you would like to be kept on our contacts list as it passes over to Jazz North.
The office number for Jazz Yorkshire / Jazz North will be 0870 242 7760.
Some aspects of Jazz Yorkshire work will be moving forward into the new organisation
