LIMA on BBC Radio 3

On Friday 12 May the Leeds Improvised Music Association's LIMA Orchestra gig with guest Ken Vandermark was featured on the BBC's cutting-edge jazz programme 'Jazz on 3'. The entire show was dedicated to jazz from fuseleeds06 and presenter Jez Nelson was joined in the studio by LIMA members Dave Kane, Chris Sharkey and Maria Jardardottir. Also featured was Lol Coxhill playing in a skip and Matt Bourne's Glen Miller project. LIMA are a new member of the now eleven strong JAZZYORKSHIRE Voluntary Promoter Network.


Jazz Day - York Music Live Festival 2006

York saxophonist Rob Laver has organised a unique jazz day combining playing and talking about jazz. Joining Rob will be joined by composer / educator Steve Berry on double bass, highly regarded drummer John Perry (Georgie Fame, Jamil Sheriff) and the always in demand, Andy Cholerton on piano. There will also be an open forum discussion section where they'll be joined by JAZZYORKSHIRE's Nigel Slee and be talking about: composition techniques; business strategies for self employed musicians; schemes and awards available; self promotion; web sites and recording your music. The day will end with a playing session where guest musicians can sit in

The Silhouette Ensemble
The Saffron Beagley Jazz Orchestra

LCM graduate Saffron Beagley is presenting two of her jazz projects on the same evening at The Wardrobe, Leeds. The Silhouette Ensemble is a collaborative performance combining jazz, cross cultural music and voice with shadow puppetry. The 17 piece Saffron Beagley Jazz Orchestra will be performing her original compositions plus some by Maria Schneider and Kenny Wheeler.

Next nuTALENT Showcase - Hull Jazz Festival

The line-up for our next nuTALENT showcase will include 16 year-old saxophonist Lucas Dodd. Lucas is lead alto player with the award winning Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra and a regular member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Lucas is seeking to step into a career of small ensemble performance before leaving to study in New York in 2008. Also appearing will be The Inertia Trio and the Laura Fowles / Wayne Pollock Project.
