LIMA on BBC Radio 3On Friday 12 May the Leeds Improvised Music Association's LIMA Orchestra gig with guest Ken Vandermark was featured on the BBC's cutting-edge jazz programme 'Jazz on 3'. The entire show was dedicated to jazz from fuseleeds06 and presenter Jez Nelson was joined in the studio by LIMA members Dave Kane, Chris Sharkey and Maria Jardardottir. Also featured was Lol Coxhill playing in a skip and Matt Bourne's Glen Miller project. LIMA are a new member of the now eleven strong JAZZYORKSHIRE Voluntary Promoter Network. Jazz Day - York Music Live Festival 2006Sunday 28th May. 12.30pm - 6:00pm York saxophonist Rob Laver has organised a unique jazz day combining playing and talking about jazz. Joining Rob will be joined by composer / educator Steve Berry on double bass, highly regarded drummer John Perry (Georgie Fame, Jamil Sheriff) and the always in demand, Andy Cholerton on piano. There will also be an open forum discussion section where they'll be joined by JAZZYORKSHIRE's Nigel Slee and be talking about: composition techniques; business strategies for self employed musicians; schemes and awards available; self promotion; web sites and recording your music.
