Pianist Matthew Bourne appears with the cutting-edge trio Bourne Davis Kane. You can find out more about the bands and listen to their music at the online preview page. Small Grants scheme

A pilot project for this year is a new small grant scheme for up to £300 to help towards the costs of a project that meets the aims of celebrating and developing jazz in the Yorkshire Humberside region. The application would need to show match funding of 50%. Application forms can now be downloaded from our web site. For more information contact Nigel Slee.

Bradford voluntary promoter joins network

Bradford's Jazz at the Priestley (JATP) now joins the network of voluntary promoters supported by Jazz Yorkshire with an investment of £2,000 for 2006/07. This now brings the total to 12 organisations supported from this year's pot of £30,000 dedicated to voluntary promoters. JATP's monthly programme features Ruby Wood, Enrico Marchesi / Bourbon y Tequila, Laura Fowles Quartet, Richard Ormrod Boptet, Nicki Allen Quintet and Rod Mason's 'Elements'.

Jazz Services - new web site

Jazz Services have launched their revitalised web site. The new site allows users to enter and edit their data and add images and audio clips. A powerful new search facility enables fast access to a database containing 2,000 musicians, 1,500 bands and 1,000 promoters.

In the jazz press...

Two bands from our region have positive reviews in the September issue of Jazzwise. "For admirers of both European improve and old-school Chicago free-jazz alike, this one is a must" was the review for Sheffield musicians Martin Archer and John Jasnoch's ensemble ASK who received a three star review for cd "Acoustic Quartet 2006". CD available from Discus via their web site.

Meanwhile York saxophonist Rob Laver's performance at the Manchester Jazz Festival received the following: "…the post-bob Rob Lavers Quartet were a revelation, conjuring up a late 1960's session from Joe Henderson, they show great promise".

myspace.com/jazzyorkshire

There are now links to 60 musicians, promoters and organisations on our myspace web site. The site has been set to use as a portal for jazz related myspace web sites for the Yorkshire Humberside region. Myspace sites, which are free to set up, are ideal for musicians as they can use the built in music player to demonstrate their music.

Would you like to play a part in developing jazz in this region?

Exciting opportunity for two individuals to join the JAZZYORKSHIRE board of directors.
