Simon Stafford – melodica, trombone
Rob Skeet – saxophone / clarinet
Bill Sutton – piano
Colin Elliot – bass
Phil Johnson - drums

Sheffield sextet playing original cop-show jazz tunes with the unusual line-up of saxophone, flute and melodica / trombone. The project came together as a vehicle for members of the band to compose and play their own original material. Band members all established players on Sheffield scene while Simon Stafford was bassist for Brit pop band The Long Pigs and the late Joe Strummer's band Mescaleros.

Gareth Parry

Gareth Parry Quintet

myspace.com/whosgarethparry

Gareth Parry - guitar
Si Taylor – alto saxophone
Dave Keech - drums
Taz Modi – fender rhodes
Seth Green – bass

Formed out of a weekly residency at Dr Wu's in Leeds. The music focuses on contemporary jazz writing with a feel for contemporary beats. The material is a combination of composed sections and more free form groove ideas. This is to avoid typical arrangements of head solo head etc, so while not through composed, there is attention paid to avoiding usual formulas. Imagine Cinematic's meets Steve Coleman.

Dave Kane – double bass, voice

"Let it be said, this trio is intense and a mindf****r of unbelievable breadth and power, with some nice bits thrown in. The repertoire consists largely of original compositions, short improvised pieces and elements of theatre and audience interaction. Since their legendary debut at the Belfast Jazz festival in 2002, the Bath Jazz Festival commissioned BDK in 2003 – resulting in the mammoth whatever happened to Jack Jones and the early recordings of Johnny Mathis? Since then the trio have continued to perform regularly at many of Europe’s major Jazz festivals". BDK
